Be there….or else

by Grace George — Categories: UncategorizedNo Comments

It’s almost time for Trunk or Treat!

This year, the event will be on a Friday night, giving the scouts and their families a little extra time to enjoy the fun.  As usual, there will be games, prizes and treats for all!  The theme is GHOST TOWN, which will feature some spooky characters from the Old West.  Please dress in your western wear, or put on your favorite costume and bring the family along for a fun night out.

When:  Friday, October 14th  6:30-8:30

Where:  The Bible Church at 6555 E. Payne Road.

At 6:30, we’ll meet inside the church for announcements and then we’ll kick off the festivities with a costume parade, (and judging!)   After that, we’ll divide into groups and head outside for the games and food.  The evening will end with Trunk or Treating and the awards presentation.

Parents, please decorate your car to participate in Trunk or Treat.  There will be a separate place in the parking lot for all participating vehicles.  During the last part of the evening, you will stay with your car and hand out treats to all the kids who pass by.  There will also be prizes awarded to the judge’s favorite vehicles!

Pathfinder District News

by Grace George — Categories: UncategorizedNo Comments

Did you know that as a Cub Scout in Pack 107, you are also part of the Pathfinder District?  That’s right!  Our district serves scouts in Southern Marion County (Perry and Franklin Townships) and all of Johnson County in Indiana and is one of 14 districts in the Crossroads of America Council, which serves central Indiana.

Currently in our district, there are 100 Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Varsity teams and Venture crews chartered by local community organizations. These units have close to 3,000 youth members and 1,200 adult volunteers!

Learn a little more about the Pathfinder District by viewing the District Fact Sheet

Please note:  Our district website now has a new web address, http://districts.crossroadsbsa.org/pf

Also, take a few minutes to visit our  Council’s website, which has been completely redesigned!

By visiting these sites, you can learn about more opportunities for scouts, akelas and leaders to enhance your scouting experience!

We hope to see all of you at the September Pack meeting on Tuesday the 18th at 6:30 at The Life Center on Southport!

What’s Den 10 Been Up To?

by Grace George — Categories: UncategorizedNo Comments

Glad you asked!  This hard-working group of Webelos had a den meeting on September 12, where they reviewed their fitness activity, practiced folding the American flag,  practiced closing ceremony, and made a healthy snack.  Leader Holly Paquin hosts the den’s meetings at her home, and always helps the scouts Do Their Best.  Den 10 includes:  Max Bunch, Joey Hickam, Bryce Neal, Brendan Paquin, Franklin Reed, Kyle Schoch, and Allon Wright.

Way to go, guys!

Big thanks to Adrien Paquin for taking the following pictures, (click on each picture to see entire image,  then click again to enlarge.)

Visit Cub’s Corner!

by Grace George — Categories: UncategorizedNo Comments

At the top of the page, you’ll see links to various pages on this website.  The newest page we’ve added is called, “Cub’s Corner”, and it’s a page dedicated to a list of kid-friendly websites.  The kids will think the sites are fun, but parents should feel good knowing their child is learning something at the same time.  Take a few moments to look over the websites, then let your scout explore what interests them, (be sure to set a time limit!).

Opinions and suggestions concerning the list of websites are welcome, so please tell us what you think!   As with ALL posts on our pack website, your comments are important to us, so speak up!  Please note:  All comments must be approved before they appear, so we avoid inappropriate remarks or spam.   Happy surfing!

Cooperation

by Grace George — Categories: UncategorizedNo Comments

Core Value of the Month: Cooperation

Cooperation means being helpful and working together with others toward a common goal.  Cooperation is a key element in teamwork.  In September, Cub Scouts should gain a better understanding of the importance of supporting each other as they play games and learn new skills.  Talk with your scouts about this important aspect of scouting and help them find ways to effectively cooperate with others in their dens and beyond.

Team sports, such as soccer and badminton, are a great way for your scouts to learn cooperation.  Relay races and other fun activities, such as The Human Knot and Tee Shirt Relay Race are also great, (and fun!), for practicing this Core Value.  This is an ideal month for scouts to work on requirements, belt loops and pins which highlight cooperation with others.

Check back monthly for the Core Value of the Month.  In the meantime, here is a Core Value printable crossword puzzle, which is a great activity for your den’s gathering time.  It’s a good way for the scouts to become more familiar with Cub Scouting’s 12 Core Values.
