You Asked For It!
I’ve recently been asked to share some of the videos I took in the past, so thought I’d better get them posted before I forget. Keep in mind, I take these with my regular camera, so the quality isn’t the best.
I encourage YOU to send me any pack or den-related videos or pictures you have and I’ll post them here! As always, comments are welcome!

Way to Go, Pack 107!
What a great turnout of scouts and families we had at the November pack meeting! We were proud to be back at Bunker Hill to represent Cub Scouts Pack 107! Families were asked to bring donations, which will be sent to a U.S. Army troop in Afghanistan, which includes Den 5 dad, Captain Brian Foster. The meeting was kicked-off by Den One, who performed the flag ceremony and opening. They did a great job with their “I am an American” presentation!
After that, the scouts got to communicate with Captain Foster via Skype from Afghanistan, who told the boys a bit about where he is stationed, what it’s like there, and what will happen to the donations we’re sending them.
The boys then made posters which will be included in the care packages that will be sent to the troop, then Cubmaster Shea spoke with the boys about citizenship, announced some awards, and presented two scouts with their Bobcat Badge, (more on that later!). He also called Seth Wynn to the front, then announced Seth had worked hard to earn his Webelos rank. Congrats to all our scouts on their awesome achievements!
Den 11 closed the meeting with a cool skit about helping those in need.
After the meeting, a few helpful scouts and adults loaded the military donations, which filled the back of a pickup truck!
Great job, Pack 107! Way to Do Your Best!
Here are some pictures of the boys as they created the posters for the soldiers:

Citizenship
November’s Core Value is Citizenship. Scouts can show this by contributing service and showing responsibility to local, state, and national communities.
Ways to practice this at the local, state and national level are:
~Visit a local food pantry, such as God’s Bounty, (which is located in and serves Franklin Township). Encourage scouts to collect food or monetary donations, or to donate their time volunteering at the pantry. Their needs are great, as is their appreciation for those who help others.
~Offer a Super Welcome to visitors coming to the Super Bowl in February. Print and color a card to welcome people to our city. Check with your scouts, because some have already created these cards at school. You can also learn about other ways to be a good citizen by looking under “Host Committee Programs” at the same site. Lots of great stuff there to get the boys excited about being involved.
~Attend the November Pack meeting on Tuesday, November 15th and bring donations to send to our military troops overseas. The theme for this meeting will be “Giving Back”, and we’ll be collecting donations, boxing them up, and sending them off to Camp Atterbury. Your donations will then be shipped to military personnel stationed overseas. This will be a very special pack meeting, as we’ll be heading back to our “Home Base”, Bunker Hill Elementary. Bunker Hill’s PTO is working with us to create a memorable and important evening to highlight Citizenship and Giving Back.
Here’s what we were told by Major Steve Fippen:
“The big items that soldiers like to get overseas:
1. iTunes gift cards
2. Starbucks coffee (un-ground, they will grind it so it’s fresh)
3. Girl Scout cookies (not a lot of microwaves for cub scout popcorn FYI…)
4. Unlocked cell phones (used)
5. Pre-paid phone cards that work on the AT&T phone banks
6. Kid’s footballs, soccer balls (they give these to children while on patrol)
7. Playing cards
Soldiers don’t need toiletries, canned foods, books, CD’s, DVD’s, etc. Those things are readily available at the PX…”
We also received another list of items, which has a lot more on it, many of those are things that Major Fippen said the soldiers can readily buy. We’ll let you decide what you want to do to help our pack with this important project. You can access that list here: Care package
Keep those things in mind and start collecting items to bring to Bunker Hill on the 15th of November. Meanwhile, don’t forget to practice Citizenship by Doing Your Best!
