Resourcefulness means using human resources and other resources to their fullest. This month, Cub Scouts should gain knowledge and the means to meet situations effectively, whether they are working on a service project, completing a den activity, or finding ways to be resourceful in their own homes. Finding creative solutions to solve problems is an excellent way to be resourceful. Conserving time and energy by coming up with a more efficient way of doing things is also a great way to practice resourcefulness.
Help Scouts learn this valuable life skill by teaching them basic, everyday tasks, such as cleaning or making a grocery list. Allow them to come up with their own way of doing things. Let them brainstorm for new ideas. With a little creative help and a lot of encouragement, you’ll find your scout able to solve problems and maybe find a faster, easier, or more economical way of doing things. Who knows, maybe they’ll teach you a thing or two about resourcefulness along the way.
