Cubmaster Minute

Today I was just sitting back and contemplating all of the incredible events we share in as a pack. I remembered the Trunk or Treat meetings, the wonderful Christmas parties, the Fear Factor Sleepover, Summer Camp, Blue and Gold as well as so many others. I feel so blessed to be a part of a pack that works so hard to help these boys grow up building the right character and making sure to have fun along the way. I was struck by just how much time goes into preparing for each of these events. Hours and hours and hours of volunteer time is spent making sure that every detail is addressed. At the end of a big meeting I often utter a sigh of relief knowing that it is finished and then I quickly move on to the next thing.

But I’m wrong. It isn’t finished, in fact it is just beginning. Most of the volunteers will never know just how much of an impact their time in those boys lives will truly mean. How many of those boys will grow up to be Eagle Scouts? How many will contribute to the world of tomorrow in a positive way? How many of them will use the principles learned in Scouts everyday for the rest of their lives. We are training future doctors, lawyers, congressmen and community leaders. How many will go on to help volunteer at homeless shelters or teach others the importance of giving back to those in need?

When you make the choice to volunteer in scouting or even to be an active part of your child’s life, you are helping to shape a better, more productive and positive future for our country. The character we instill in these boys while they are young, is the character they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Thank you for all the support you give. Your contribution matters for both today and tomorrow.

God Bless you all,
